About CHT

Contemporary Handweavers of Texas (CHT) is a non-profit organization, founded in October 1949, that promotes interest in handweaving and related crafts.  CHT supports individuals and guilds in Texas through education and networking of the history, the craft, the art, fashion and innovation in weaving, spinning and related fiber arts techniques.

CHT holds a biennial conference, with the next conference to be held in San Antonio in March of 2009. The CHT Conferences feature speakers, workshops of all types, a juried members' exhibit, guild exhibits, a juried fashion show of handmade designs, and exhibitors from around Texas and the nation.

CHT publishes a newsletter 5 times a year. Each issue includes news and features from around the state, plus a weaving or spinning sample

and description produced

by one of the local guilds.
